Illustrative service walkthrough

The last few minutes at the table.

A small group has finished its meal. The conversation continues, the team is serving nearby tables and one guest is ready to settle the bill. Here is how a clear phone-payment journey can fit that moment.

A dining table illustrating the setting of a restaurant payment journey

About this example.

01. The guest opens the bill.

The guest scans the QR at the table. The page identifies the venue and presents the available bill. Before any payment, the guest checks that the items and total match the table’s order.

An item looks unfamiliar. Instead of guessing, the guest asks a member of the team. The team checks the order and resolves the bill question through the venue’s normal process before payment continues.

02. The guest makes a clear choice.

The guest reviews the supported payment options. If the configured experience allows a split, the guest follows that option and sees the amount they are about to pay. An optional tip remains a visible choice.

The guest sees the final amount alongside the payment action. They can review the information before choosing an available payment method.

03. Both sides know what happened.

On the guest’s phone

The payment flow returns a result. A successful result includes a usable reference or confirmation. If the result is unclear, the guest can show the team the information already on the screen.

In the team’s workflow

The team checks the supported merchant or POS view. If part of the bill remains, they follow the remaining-balance process. They do not rely on an assumption that a guest opening a payment page means the bill is paid.

04. Service reaches a natural finish.

With the payment status established, the team can finish the interaction confidently. The guest has a clear record of the outcome and knows who to contact if a question appears later.

The example does not promise a particular number of seconds saved or a change in tips. Its value is the clarity of the journey: the right bill, an understandable choice, a confirmed payment and an obvious route for help.
